Mangaluru: Summer Carnival spread warmth at MIA amidst rain

Media Release

Mangaluru, May 20: The 30-day summer carnival at Mangaluru International Airport is well and truly on. Even as the heavens opened outside to provide much-needed relief from the summer heat, the carnival inside only spread warmth among the stakeholders. If a series of activities kept young travelers hooked, their Gen Y parents relived their childhood by seeing their children do what they did as kids themselves.

Antara Phatarpekar and her sister Ira Phatarpekar were thrilled at the chance to color a mask at the domestic security hold area even as their parents helped themselves to snacks from the nearby F&B outlet.

Antara on a holiday to this part of the state and returning to Mumbai was happy to bring out her inner Picasso on a mask. “It is cool to get to do such an activity at an airport,” Antara said.

Her friend Freya Ghelani, who literally bent her back in coloring a sheet too was happy to spread an aesthetic mix of VIBGYOR all over her drawing sheet and looked pleased as a punch with the result too.

The specially designed summer carnival activity booth set up for the purpose captivated the imagination of both Antara and Freya and they promised to share this with their friends in Mumbai.

The carnival that ends on June 20 will provide children with multiple opportunities to dabble in a series of fun activities. These include preparing greeting cards, dabbling in origami, painting without brush, mask, pot, straw, and rock painting, creating felt art, and decorating their flips flops to name a few. F&B partners at the airport will also give in-house mocktail training for wannabe chefs.

Spicing up the carnival, the F&B and retail partners at the airport have announced a wide range of discounts on their offerings. Combos will give the stakeholders a lot to choose from a wide array of food and beverage offerings. Props and selfie booths set up at vantage locations across the departure halls will also give people a chance to share these special moments online with their loved ones.
