Puttur, May 21: St Philomena P U college bade adieu to the principal, Fr Vijay Lobo after his 11 years of dedicated and committed service.

A closed yet beautiful programme to bid farewell and felicitate Fr Vijay Lobo was held on May 20. A warm welcome was braced by Fr Stany Pinto, campus director and lecturer in dept of English, St Philomena College. Govind Prakash, Dept of Computer Science briefed on the service rendered by Fr Vijay Lobo and Ashwini K, Department of Chemistry read the honorary citation which read as follows,

“A job well done indicates a person’s efforts, loyalty, commitment and dedication and is always a source of inspiration”.

Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, correspondent in his presidential remarks said that Fr Vijay Lobo is a person whose contributions and generosity need no preamble. Under his able leadership, the institution realized its motto of "Faith and Service." His efforts and commitment will forever be etched in the minds and hearts of the students, peers, faculty, and his countless admirers, he added.

Fr Gerald D'Souza, former correspondent and secretary of CBE said, "Fr Vijay Lobo, with his determination, strength of character, honesty, humility and seemingly endless energy was a major factor in the success. A person who pursued his dreams and embarked on a journey, in which his determination and resolve, proved to be an antidote to the afflictions of many. He won the hearts of many by setting an example of dedication and treading steadfastly with a calm demeanor to steer the crisis in various situations. In his chair, he groomed new staff members and students to head various positions."

Dr Antony Prakash Monterio, principal, St Philomena College said that Fr Vijay Lobo has held the banner of the institution high. His expert touch and perception turned St Philomena PU College into one of the best institutions growing beyond expectations.

PTA former president, Prof Soorya Narayan said, "The words of assurance and wisdom given to everyone by Fr Vijay Lobo were immeasurable. He has helped the institution sail through rough weather, and helmed the stern bringing it to calmer seas, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. By his well-planned strategies, improvising, adaptation and formulations he helped the students in breaking records in their academics.

A J Rai, president of the Alumni Association appreciated the work done by Fr Vijay Lobo and congratulated him on being appointed as the new Principal at Anugraha PU College, Ujire.

The traditional felicitation program was bestowed to Fr Vijay Lobo by the members of the Management Committee, PTA Association, Alumni Association and Old students Association.

On this occasion, Fr Vijay Lobo thanked everyone who touched his life in making him an able principal. He thanked the workforce of the institutions for always instilling confidence in him and being a cohesive group in carrying out the mundane works.

Dr Asha Savithri, Department of Hindi, compered and proposed a vote of thanks.
