Mangaluru: 'Beautiful Lengths' hair donation drive held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru May 21: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Department of Zoology in association with Indian Catholic Youth Movement Central Council Diocese of Mangalore, Sparsha Campaign against Cancer-CODP, Mercy Beauty Academy organized a hair donation drive under the title "Beautiful Lengths" at St Agnes College on Saturday. May 21.

Dr Naveen Rodrigues, consultant-palliative care, A J Hospital and Research Centre was the chief guest for the program. Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Fr Ashwin Cardoza, director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Jaison Crasta, president, ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Shilpa D'Souza, coordinator, Sparsha-Campaign Against Cancer, CODP, Mercy Veena D’Souza from Mercy Beauty Academy, Yashawanth T-Yacchu's Hair Garage Unisex Salon Bejai, were the dignitaries for the program.

Dr Naveen Rodrigues addressed the gathering. He gave valuable insights on cancer. He began with an overview to cancer and also decoded the myths associated with cancer. The speaker gave a detailed information regarding cancer, its causes, symptoms and all the other aspects regarding cancer. The talk fully engaged the participants and indeed it was an amazing interactive session.

Blairil Vishma Dcunha welcomed the gathering, Ameetha K, head of the department of zoology proposed a vote of thanks and Vaishnavi 3rd BSc Student compered the program.

As many as 62 donors came forward to donate the hair.

The drive got a very good response and most of them appreciated for taking up this initiative for a noble cause.
