MLAs' salaries hiked to Rs 2 lac a month amid high inflation, surging prices

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, May 21: Commoners are having a tough time to make ends meet due to the continuous rising prices of essentials like cooking oil, vegetables, cooking gas, etc.

In addition, the burden is higher due to ever sky rocketing prices of petrol, diesel, gold and silver. But it seems people’s representatives are not bothered about the plight of commoners. Their salaries have been hiked to a whopping Rs 2.05 lac per month.

In February, 2022 an amendment to the salary, pension and allowance act was passed in the legislative assembly to this effect. J C Madhswamy, minister for law and parliamentary affairs had presented the amendment in the legislative assembly and got the bill passed.

The basic salary of a MLA is Rs 40,000. The MLA gets a constituency allowance of Rs 60000 besides a constituency travel allowance of Rs 60000, an allowance for staff and assistants of Rs 20000, a postal allowance of Rs 5000 and a phone allowance of Rs 20000.

According to the new pay scales there is a 60% increase in the salaries of MLAs and MLCs, 50% increase in salaries of CM, ministers, speaker and leader of opposition.

The revised pay scales will be applicable for MLAs with effect from April 1, 2022 itself. The hike in salaries of people's representatives will cost a whopping Rs 92.40 crore to the state exchequer annually.

I feel extremely angry, sad, let down and helpless by this salary increase news. It’s outright loot of tax payers’ money for the corrupt, unethical, useless and zero principled MLAs who were sadly elected by us innocent citizens based on false promises. They take commissions and also jump parties for money disregarding the voters’ wishes, hopes and aspirations.

That’s why all want to become MLA to get big fat salary and all the Govt facilities. No one wants welfare of society. All looters and false promises during election. See the NH highway from mangalore to udupi. Night time no street lights and some areas it’s pitch dark. You find enough lights near toll gates only . A poor eye sight person cannot drive at night. Anyone is looking into it.????

Only AAP ( Aam Aadmi Party) understands common man's plight. They provide the poor saved from their funds by simple living for they are public servants and they stop all corruption and laziness. Thus saved money they use to service of the poor and marginalized. They are the only HOPE!

You can't press your hunger eating money, you can't get your body clean bathing in money , you cant heal your wounds applying money, only either keep it with you idle or you need to give someone else to get yourself yielded of something you want. So instead of money you need a fairy to get what you want.
