UP crosses milestone of 90 lakh vaccine doses to 12-14 age group


Lucknow, May 25 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh has crossed the landmark of administering over 90 lakh vaccine doses to the children in the age group of 12-14.

According to the official spokesman, this is another milestone as the state continues to conduct one of the most successful vaccination campaigns in the country since the rollout of the mass immunisation drive.

The Uttar Pradesh government is providing vaccination cover to all children between 12 to 17 years of age in a time-bound manner.

So far, over 2,41,42,318 vaccine doses have been administered to children in the age group of 15-17 and over 91,31,512 vaccine doses have been administered to the children in the age group of 12-14 in the state.

At least 32.46 crore out of the total 192 crore doses administered in the country are from UP.

Committed to providing additional protection cover to the people, Uttar Pradesh started administering booster shots (precaution dose) from January 10.

Over 30.60 lakh precaution doses have been administered in the state so far.

Uttar Pradesh is followed by Maharashtra with 16.64 crore doses administered so far. In terms of percentage, over 91.53 per cent of the adult population is fully vaccinated and 100 per cent have received one vaccine dose.

In the age category of 15-17, over 96.88 per cent of the children have received at least one dose of the vaccine. While 75 per cent teens (15-17) are now fully vaccinated. Over 83 per cent of the children in the age group of 12-14 have received the first dose of the vaccine.

To speed up the vaccination drive for children in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also asked the concerned officials to ensure adequate availability of vaccine doses in Uttar Pradesh and encourage the eligible beneficiaries to take the vaccine cover.
