Kundapur, May 26: Shilpa (25), a resident of Uppinakudru attempted to kill herself by consuming poison on the night of Monday, May 23 and succumbed on the morning of Wednesday, May 25.
Brother of the deceased has filed a complaint against Azeez (32), resident of Moodugopadi near Koteshwara and his wife Salma, accusing that the deceased was victim of Azeez’s love affair with her. Azeez had married Salma (30), resident of Hangaluru six years ago. He was acquainted with Shilpa in a tutorial class before his marriage. Shilpa was working in a textile shop of Tallur since three years.
It is said that Azeez used to send messages on WhatsApp and entice Shilpa saying that he will marry her and used to take her to his apartment at Koteshwara. Shilpa who believed in Azeez was in an emotional relationship with him. He had captured many photographs with Shilpa. However, Salma, Azeez’s wife did not agree for marriage.
It is gathered, Azeez had even asked Shilpa to kill herself at the shop where she was working. Shilpa who came to know the real character of Azeez, albeit too late, reportedly consumed rat poison on the night of Monday May 23 and died in Manipal hospital on Wednesday may 25.
Activists of Hindu organizations gathered near the police station as the news of Shilpa’s death came to light. Leaders of Hindu organizations, who provided moral support to the parents of deceased Shilpa, urged to arrest the accused and send him to jail immediately.
It has come to light that deceased had seen information on religious conversion. There is a suspicion that this is case of love jihad. Sub inspector Sadshiva Gavaroji assured the activists that he will take suitable legal action after investigation.
