Beltangady: Mistaken identity – Auto rickshaw driver beaten over rumours of interfaith wedding

Beltangady, May 28: Rumours are rife in Kokkada near here that a Hindu girl, who used to visit Sauthadka Ganapati temple frequently, got married to an auto rickshaw driver belonging to another community. On Friday May 27, this rumour took a different turn with a gang of youths trying to assault some other auto driver of a different community over some other issue.

It is said that on Friday, May 27, a girl, a devotee of Sauthadka Kshethra arrived at the temple in the auto rickshaw that was driven by youth of another community. It is said that the auto driver engaged in conversation with the girl while tendering change after she got down. A gang of youths, which noticed this, took the auto driver to task and even tried to assault him.

Locals brought the issue to the notice of Dharmasthala police. Station officer Krishnakant arrived on the spot and diffused the situation. It is said that this incident resulted immediately after the rumour of a Hindu girl from Bengaluru having married an auto driver of another community of Kokkada.

    Situation in Karnataka has so much gone rotted that first take the person to task without asking or looking at who it is ,why it is.Why is this so ?Simply inter religion connection is not tolerated.No understanding ,everyone is snot satisfied.I pity the victim .Why should one beat the person suppose he married a interfaith girl ?what is wrong in it ?IT is their wish ,their life .Simply interfere in everything what is not needed.Are you going to feed them ?
