Kundapur, May 30: MLA B M Sukumar Shetty visited the Government hospital in the town and took the medical officer to task.

Shetty said, “There are complaints that you send the patients to Udupi government hospital from here. Do not do this. This is a government hospital. Patients should get service here. If the medical condition of the patient is critical and if no treatment can be given here, in that case you can send them to a district hospital. But do not send patients unnecessarily to district hospital Udupi.”

Sukumar also enquired about the well-being of patients who are being treated for dengue in the hospital. He also instructed concerned officials to set right the water problem.

Speaking to the media persons, Sukumar said,”84 people were admitted in Kundapur government hospital for dengue fever from Jadkal Madhoor area. Now only 39 are left as others have recovered and returned home. Dengue is coming under control.”

Jalajakshi Shetty, Jadkal gram panchayat president, Deepak Kumar Shetty, Byndoor Mandala BJP president and Dr Robert Rebello, medical officer of the hospital were present.
