Udupi: No hijab in classrooms, action against violators – Shobha Karandlaje

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, May 31: “The high court has clarified that there is no opportunity to wear hijab in the classrooms. All have to follow law of the land,” said union minister Shobha Karandlaje.

Shobha further said, “Stringent action should be taken against those who violate the high court order. Otherwise it will result in anti-social and anti-national activities in future. All have to follow the high court order with regards to hijab issue.”

Responding to the statement of SDPI that they will not give even a handful of mud of Malali mosque, Shobha said, “Both the union and state governments are observing the statements of the SDPI. The Home department is also scrutinizing everything. What has to be given to Hindus, should be given. We have to correct the mistakes that have happened in history. Many temples were demolished and mosques built over them. But we were not witnesses to such atrocities. Some mistakes have taken place in the past. Historians and archaeologists have to excavate and see which is right and which is wrong. In case of Malali controversy, both the communities should get the issue resolved amicably.”

Reacting to the dissolution of textbook revision committee, Shobha said, “Our children have to learn the history of our country. They should know the mishaps that have occurred in our history. Why the British came to India? Why Moghuls invaded the country? Why Ghazni Mohammed invaded India 18 times? What is our issue and deficiencies? All have to be learnt by our children. Many of our children do not know the history even if they have completed degree. They are not aware who has fought for the independence of our nation.

“I will not speak about the person or committee with regards to the revision of text books. Our state has got the highest number of Jnanpith awards. Our Kannada literature is rich. The litterateurs of Kannada language are so powerful. Children should know matters like unification of Karnataka. The government should take people who are not involved in controversies as members of the committee. Matters which are liked by all have to be taught. But it is difficult to satisfy everyone. Revision should be done keeping in mind that all are equal. Lessons that thrill and develop the minds of children should be taught,” she said.

With regards to increasing cases of Love Jihad, Shobha said, “Love Jihad is a process of pushing our girls to hell. They marry in the name of love or cheat without marrying. They give a baby and abandon. Then they pronounce Talaq and marry someone else. This menace should end immediately. Who will listen to the sorrow of parents if the girls fall victim to Love Jihad. There is a need of a strong law in this respect. I have argued about this years ago.”

Replying to query on matter of spraying ink on farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, Shobha said, “It is not right to carry out such act on any leader. In democracy, one can protest. The opposition has strong power in the legislative council and assemblies, as well as in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Only protest will make the government correct its shortcomings and also make it more aware. Tikait is fighting on a particular matter. Let him introspect how much profit or loss the farmers have incurred due to his fight. But it is not right to attack any one personally. This will not bring fame to anyone.”

Build schools hospital etc but only talk religions revision of text books etc but hard work of school. Hospital are left for others to work on. So sad. You don't have to tell us what to wear and what not to wear. You are an MP and concentrate on development of your constituency. Don't give statements just to increase your vote bank and with the arrival of AAP your position is shaky and you are one of the most useless MP of India.
