Kasargod: Man sentenced to 107 years jail, fined Rs 4.25 lac for sexually harassing step-daughter

Kasargod, Jun 1: Hosadurg first additional district sessions court here awarded 107 years of prison under various sections to a man for sexually harassing his 16-year-old step-daughter. In addition, a fine of Rs 4.25 lac is also slapped on the convict.

This sentence is awarded to the man, a native of Idukki, presently residing at Uduma Barada Kulikunnil.

The accused was sentenced to 20 years under sections 376 (3), 376 (2) (N), 376 (2) (F), IPC & RW 5 (1) and 6-R/W 5 (N)  each in prison and fined Rs 75,000. He has to undergo six months of additional prison if he fails to pay the fine.

In addition, the accused was given seven years of imprisonment and Rs 50,000 fine under POCSO. He has to undergo three months of additional prison sentence if he fails to pay the fine.

The convict will be given these sentences concurrently. So he has to undergo 27 years in prison and pay a fine of Rs 4.25 lac.

Melparamba police had registered a case against the step-father of the minor girl on the accusation of sexually harassing the girl from 2012 to 2018.

This is the longest sentence that is awarded to an accused in sexual harassment case in the history of Kerala.
