Mangaluru, Jun 2: A truck driver who was under the influence of alcohol was involved in a serial accident on Wednesday June 1 night on the way to an industry here.

The truck hit a car, bike and an auto rickshaw and fled from the scene of accident.

The police managed to find the driver and apprehended Kailash Patil (42), with the help of the public near Surathkal. However, the lorry cleaner is absconding.

The accused driver Kailash Patil hit a two-wheeler at the Surathkal junction and then rammed into a public petrol vehicle. The driver who did not stop went on to hit an auto rickshaw near the Surathkal railway bridge on the way to Kana. The auto rickshaw turned turtle due to the impact of the accident as a result of which three were injured.

The police have registered a case against the driver for being involved in a series road accident including the previous one at Baikampady where a car was involved in the accident.

These Cops do not check the lorry drivers strictly, especially from Maharashtra & tamilnadu. These drivers r most of the time drunk. Moreover the trucks r overloaded causing grave risk to the public. These Cops only target 2 wheelers as they don't get bribes from 2 wheeler owners unlike transport companies.

Its a common sight to see only Two wheelers being checked...All details including Number plates,Pollution, Rear view mirrors etc etc..are checked...Tho not at all wrong in this,,,,We would like to know why Buses and Trucks are not checked..Their blaring horns,Disfigured number plates,(many a times covered or missing) ,Non functional Lights are just some things that need to be checked... Surathkal Junction is a nightmare...Buses parked on the road,.. Recklessly driven Speeding ,crisscrossing traffic and Noise pollution at its worst....... God save Us ALL.......
