Bantwal: Illegal transportation of PDS rice; one accused held, 15 tons seized

Bantwal, June 2: Vittal police have identified illegal transportation of Annabhagya rice, meant for the public distribution system (PDS), and taken into custody an accused and seized the commodity. The incident happened at N C Road, Bolanthur grama here.

Lorry driver who is a Madikeri resident, Chandresh is the arrested accused. He was transporting about 15 tons of rice in the lorry to Narsha. The team of Vittal station police on receiving definite clues arrested the accused and confiscated 15 tons of rice that was being transported in 313 sacks.

Police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by food inspector in-charge Prashanth Shetty and are conducting investigations.
