One killed, five injured as speeding car rams into tempo


New Delhi, Jun 5 (IANS): A 42-year-old person was killed while 5 others suffered injuries after a car in which they were travelling rammed into a tempo in east Delhi, police said on Sunday.

According to DCP, East Delhi, Priyanka Kashyap, the accident took place in the intervening night of June 4-5 on NH-9, near Samaspur Bus Stand, and information was received at Pandav Nagar police station.

On reaching the spot, a car having five family members and a driver had met with an accident. All the occupants were injured and taken to LBS hospital where Manish Kumar Gupta, 42, was declared dead. The injured were identified as his wife Manisha, 34, son, 8, father-in-law Upendra Prasad Gupta, 67, and sister-in-law Richa, 32.

The car was being driven by Manish Kumar Thakur, of Bihar's Samastipur and presently residing in Uttam Nagar here.

"During enquiry, the occupants of the car alleged that the driver was over speeding and driving in a rash manner. He did not pay heed to their request due to which the car collided with a tempo," DCP Kashyap said.

Police registered a case against the accused driver and arrested him.
