Gambling gang busted in Delhi, 28 held


New Delhi, Jun 7 (IANS): A major gang of gamblers was busted in the national capital following which 28 people were arrested, an official said on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West District) Usha Rangnani said the Special Staff of the North-West District received secret information about gambling in the Shakurpur area on June 4 at about 9.30 p.m. after which a police team was formed to take action.

"On the basis of the input and collected detailed information, a raid was conducted at a park of Shakurpur Village, Delhi and 28 people who were found gambling/playing satta inside the park, were apprehended," the DCP said.

Rs 40,160 cash was found and other gambling articles including satta parchis, note pads, calculator, pen etc, were recovered from the place of gambling.

"Ten accused were found operating the satta and 18 other persons had come there to play. Accordingly, they were arrested," the official said.
