CBI arrests Garrison Engineer for accepting bribe of Rs 50K


New Delhi, Jun 9 (IANS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested one Garrison Engineer, EE (SG), posted with Morar Cantonment, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a man.

A senior CBI official said that a case was registered against the accused engineer -- Dhananjay Prasad Chaturvedi, on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs 4.20 lakh in connection with repairing work in a building, and provision for a covered shed.

It was further alleged that the accused had threatened the complainant to face consequences, if the demanded bribe was not given to him.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000.

"Searches were conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused at Gwalior and Santkabir Nagar (Uttar Pradesh) which has led to recovery of incriminating documents, cash of Rs 9.6 lakh and documents related to land plots at Lucknow and Noida," said the CBI official.
