Bengaluru, June 16: A delegation of farmers from Devanahalli, who are facing acquisition of their lands, met Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani to ensure that the state government acquires lands only at the market rates.
Responding to the demands, the minister promised to sympathetically consider the demand and said the government was also considering granting acquired lands to the economically weaker sections at concessional rates.
The delegation of farmers was led by Prakash at the Karnataka Udyog Mitra office in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The minister said the government was keen to safeguard the interests of farmers and ensure that no injustice will be done to them.
The delegation pointed out that 4,000 acres of land had been reserved for industrial projects including hardware, aerospace and other high-tech enterprises.
Nirani said the State Government was willing to provide lands to SC and ST applicants coming forward to set up industrial ventures up to 2 acres with 75% concession, provided the beneficiaries were willing to contribute 25% in instalments.
