Bantwal, Mar 12: Kayartadka Narayani (45) committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree near her home on Friday March 11. She was a Congress-supported member of Kepu gram panchayat.
Narayani had gone missing since Thursday. Her family members had launched a search operation. On Friday, her body was found hanging from a tree located on a hillock near her home.
Narayani was elected from Adyanadka ward, which was reserved for backward category. Locals said that she was dismayed at the stout opposition she faced from her husband, Narayanan, in attending general sessions of the panchayat and other duties expected of a panchayat member.
