Media release

Mangaluru, Jun 20: The Mount Carmel Central School here conducted the Investiture Ceremony on Monday, June 20 at the school auditorium.

The cabinet members were prepared to don the mantle of leadership and responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school. The NCC cadets with flags in their hands led the cabinet leaders majestically into the auditorium together with the chief guest Jennifer Roselyn Fernandes, principal Sr Melissa, administrator Sr Carissima and vice principal Sr Lathika.

The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer service elucidating the definition of leadership. A welcome dance was performed by the students of Grade VIII and IX, bringing out the hidden language of the soul.

The chief guest along with the dignitaries were ushered to the dais by the Head Girl, Benita Geona Rodrigues of Grade XII and Head Boy, Ronan Trevor Lobo of Grade X for the investiture ceremony.

“Leadership is not for self, but to reach out to another through love and compassion” said Sr Melissa in her welcome address as she introduced and welcomed the chief guest, Jennifer Fernandes, chairperson of Mangalore Ladies Circle. She also welcomed the newly appointed Cabinet leaders and the gathering.

Igniting the light of leadership in the School Cabinet, the inaugural ceremony was initiated through lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais along with the Head Girl and the Head boy.

The chief guest and the principal adorned the Head boy and Head girl with sash and badge while the teachers pinned the badges to the cabinet leaders and the house leaders. The oath for the head girl Benita Rodrigues and head boy Ronan Trevor Lobo was administered by the principal Sr Melissa.

The other cabinet leaders, house leaders and Club leaders offered themselves to the service of their Alma Mater through the oath taking ceremony and pledged to strive to the best of their abilities and live up to the ideals of the school.

“Leadership is not just a position or a title, its Action and Example, so always try to be a good example to others by backing words with Actions”, said the chief guest Jennifer Roseline Fernandes in her keynote speech. She addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of teamwork. She advised the Cabinet to uphold the values of the school and to work as a team while prioritizing team achievements over personal ambitions. In conclusion, Jennifer also expressed how each student is a leader, in their own capacity and how each one can make a difference, big or small, in their own surroundings.

The programme was followed by a felicitation ceremony for the winners of National level Silver Zone Olympiad, 2021-22. The chief guest felicitated the winners with medals of excellence for showcasing exemplary performance in the Olympiad.

Benita Rodrigues, the head girl proposed a vote of thanks. Rochelle Madtha and Chryss Saldanha compered the programme.

As the flowers bloom with the onset of rain, the school hopes that the fragrance of leadership lingers within the school this academic year, 2022-23.
