Davanagere: St Aloysius College Harihar celebrates Gonzaga's feast

Davanagere, Jun 22: The celebration of Aloysius Gonzaga's feast and the inauguration of the College Academic year and investiture ceremony was held at our college here on Tuesday June 21. Former District Panchayat president and Davangere District BJP president Veeresh Hanagawadi, who was the chief guest of the event, had received the meritorious tribute, spoke of the contribution made by St Aloysius' Institute for the upliftment of society through education.

Students were informed that the country could be made prosperous by value based education. Service to the Society was recognised and honoured, Fr Michael John SJ, Fr Friedrich D’Silva SJ, Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, are the elders who have been serving the Jesuit society for many years, were felicitated. Fr Friedrich D’Silva SJ wished the students with his meaningful and thoughtful words. This auspicious occasion was redecorated by the 57 students who scored highest marks in SSLC examination and the supreme achievement in the field of arts, sports and culture at the state, national and international level were also honoured. Principal Baptist Sunny Gudinho spoke on the life of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga as a model for young people to lead a better life in the service of God.

The college band, traditional welcome and NCC gave a different charm to the programme. The students also participated in a colorful dance, drama, song and other cultural activities by the college.

Superior Fr Eric Mathais SJ, finance officer Fr Vinod SJ, and Fr Praveen Kiran Martis SJ, vice principals Pushpaltha Urs and Mosin Ulla, coordinator Vilisha D’Souza,
president of the college Harshitha M Shenvi and vice president Muskan were on the stage. Padmatavathi and Muskan compered the programme. Subiya Anjum welcomed the gathering and Reshma Anjum rendered vote of thanks. The programme ended with a happy delicious family meal with the students.
