Sydney, Jun 29: ‘Aati da Onji Dina’ food festival, a free registered event by Tulu Koota Sydney for all the Tuluvas to catch up and socialise followed by a potluck lunch, will take place on July 17 in Sydney NSW. As many as 130 tickets were booked in less than 50 minutes when it was published showed the overwhelming response to the event.
Tulu Koota Sydney started a couple of months back with just a WhatsApp group mainly led by Avakash Chand and Sumeeth Prabhakar who are very passionate about Tulu culture. They are organising various events for the Tuluvas in Sydney. They screened the movie ‘Raj Sounds & Lights’ in Sydney which was houseful. This was first time a Tulu movie was released in Sydney.

In Mangaluru during Aati month, farmers and fishermen are not able to do much due to the heavy rains. So they keep themselves occupied with various cultural activities. So Aati being a very significant month, Tuluvas in Sydney have got together to have a potluck lunch.
This is a free event where 130 members have registered and volunteered to prepare the lunch. They have worked upon a set of menu which includes household Mangaluru delicacies namely chicken sukka, chicken saaru, kudutha saaru, kudutha chutney, padangi ghassi, kadale manoli, semegey, sweet coconut milk, pundi, kane pulli munchi, mutton sheek kabab, nungel chutney, white and boiled rice, kadle bele payasa and sweet. There are many individuals who are working together in preparing these dishes. On the day, they will have a prayer and then the buffet lunch for all the registered members.
Tulu Koota Sydney is very thankful to the venue sponsor ‘Sydney Sports Club’ for their support in the regard. Sydney Sports Club is located in the Western suburbs of Sydney. It is a multi-sports facility which accommodates badminton and table tennis.
