Mangaluru: Overseas jobs without agents – New scheme by Karnataka Skill Development Corporation

Mangaluru, Jun 30: There is no requirement of agents henceforth to get an overseas job. There is no need to pay money for an air ticket and visa in advance and there is no chance of cheating. If jobs are available, eligible candidates have to write examinations and fly to the required countries.

All these are possible with the new scheme formed by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) which is affiliated to the Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood department of the state government. Already 250 people have left for overseas jobs under this scheme.

The International Migration Centre-Karnataka (IMC-K) has been established for the implementation of this project. The Migration Resource Centres (MRC) have begun functioning in the revenue departments of Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Gulbarga and Belagavi. Migration Information Centres (MIC) have started operating in all districts.

The MRC of Mangaluru division has started functioning in city recently. The HRC coordinator is recruited under the district skill development officer. The coordinator will do the registration of aspirants, admit them and if there is any job that suits the profile, the matter will be informed to the concerned and the person will be sent abroad.

KSDC has entered into an agreement with the Public Affairs Centre (FAC), an agency which provides jobs overseas. The agency will provide information about vacancies in overseas countries to KSDC. This information will be relayed to all districts, according to the information shared by Dakshina Kannada district skill development officer S J Hemachandra.

The HRC coordinator Riddhi Vasani says that they are getting the profiles and passport details uploaded on the IMC portal, of people like technicians, home maids, nurses, para medical staff and drivers, who are interested in going to Arab countries like Dubai and Kuwait.

Riddhi says that there is no need for agents in their work. There is no opportunity for cheating. Those who are interested to go abroad will be given training at the Pre Departure Orientation Training (PDOT) at the central office at Bengaluru.

At present, 89 people have registered in Dakshina Kannada. They should read the migration tool kit. Most of the work is on contract basis. Till the completion of the period, one should work in the same company.

Online entrance examination in front of the camera has to be answered by the candidate. The fee for this is Rs 15,500. If the candidate gets low marks, one more opportunity is given in the next week. At present there is a need of 500 women for Dubai and Kuwait for domestic work. The salary offered is RS 30,000 per month and free food and accommodation is provided. The age limit should be between 30 and 45 years and the contract is for two years.

Similarly, there is a requirement for 200 truck drivers in the United Kingdom (UK) and the age limit is between 18 and 40 years. Four candidates in the age group of 18-40 years are required for the title mansions in Dubai.
