TN officials seal AIADMK state headquarters following clashes


Chennai, Jul 11 (IANS): Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of Chennai, Sai Vadhini on Monday sealed the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK) headquarters after clashes broke broke out between two warring factions of the party experiencing power struggle.

The cadre of the AIADMK clashed with each other causing injuries to several.

A heavy posse of police was deployed in the area and the building was sealed by the RDO in presence of police.

The RDO and police directed the former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam (OPS), and his supporters who were inside the headquarters to vacate the premises.

The AIADMK office was sealed under Section 145 ( Procedure where dispute concerning land or water is likely to cause breach of peace) of the CrPc. Section 146(1) (Power to attach subject of dispute and to appoint a receiver was evoked.

The RDO also declared Section 144 of the CrPc was promulgated in the area near the party HQ.

It also warned the AIADMK cadre of two years imprisonment if they enter the headquarters. The supporters of OPS outnumbered that of EPS and they forced their way into the headquarters.

Supporters of OPS raised slogans stating that he was the only political heir of the eternal general secretary J. Jayalalithaa.

OPS and his supporters took several documents from the party office and loaded them in his vehicle. EPS supporters lodged a complaint against OPS and his aides.
