Kundapur: Meena Kakodkar to Preside Over 20th Konkani Sahitya Sammelan

Kundapur, Mar 25: Renowned Konkani litterateur, Meena Kakodkar, has been chosen to preside over the All India 20th Konkani Sahitya Sammelan proposed to be held in April this year. The Sammelan is proposed to be organized at Sadashivgad near Karwar.

This was announced by Gokuldas Prabhu, executive president of All India Konkani Parishad, at the meeting held under the presidentship of the Parishad president, Dr Shantaram. Office bearers of both the reception committee and Parishad participated in this meeting.

Several of works authored by Kakodkar have been translated into a number of Indian languages, and she has won several awards and honours. Parishad’s Karnataka division’s vice-president, U S Shenoy, said that Meena Kakodkar has won a number of awards including those conferred by Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, Katha New Delhi, Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Arts Akademi, Manipal Dr T M A Pai Foundation, central government, and Goa state government.
