Bengaluru, Jul 12: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai unveiled the logo of the first-ever Bengaluru Design Festival scheduled to be held from November 11 to December 12 and officially launched the festival campaign.
Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister of Skill Development, Higher Education and IT & BT, who was present at the event said: “Smart and innovative design is at the core of everything we do today. The festival will open up a lot of opportunities for all the stakeholders and put Bengaluru at the forefront as a design destination, be it learning, applying, activities or developing creative solutions.’’
He explained that the month-long festival would be a programme of over 500 events and activities, including Design Summits, Installations, Workshops, Design Talks, Exhibits, Design Challenges etc.
The first edition is expected to witness a gathering of over 50,000 design professionals, architects, thought leaders, is policy makers and government officials, creative minds, and students, he said.
The event would be held with the support of the Government of Karnataka in association with ISDC - International Skill Development Corporation, World Design Council, Jain (Deemed-to-be-University), various professional and industry bodies like Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Association of Designers for India (ADI) etc.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, Tom Joseph, Executive Director for Strategy and Development, ISDC, and Arun Balachandran, Director, Digital Division were present.
