Mangaluru, Jul 21: The case on Vikas V Shetty, acting manager of Vijaya Bank branch of Deralakatte, of misusing bank funds is proved. Second CJM court sentenced the accused to three years of imprisonment and slapped a find of Rs 5,000.
From December 28 to 30, 2017, actual manager of the bank Sandeep Gadde was on leave. Vikas Shetty worked in the cash counter of the branch on December 29. When the cash was tallied that day evening in the Finacle software of the bank, closing cash did not tally and there was a deficit of Rs 27, 29,875. When inquired, Vikas agreed that he had taken the money and repaid it to the bank next day.
A complaint was raised with Economic and Narcotic crime police station by regional manager Sridhar Murthy. The then SI Latha K N registered a case and police inspector K K Ramakrishna submitted chargesheet to the court. It was proved that the accused had misused public money for personal use through investigation and evidences.
Justice Madhukar P Bhagwat, who conducted inquiry of the case, convicted accused Vikas V Shetty and sentenced him the imprisonment of three years and slapped a fine of Rs 5000. Assistant public prosecutor Mohan Kumar B argued for the prosecution.
