Mangaluru, Jul 22: Gunapala Kadamba of the Kambala Academy on Friday July 22 clarified that the allegations against him and his academy members were baseless and lacked authenticity.
He said that he had been serving the Kambala academy for over two decades and that he had been truthful and selfless to his duty. He shared that the prime subject of discussion was the false allegations of corruption that had been charged against him and Srinivasa Gowda who was regarded as the ‘Usian Bolt of the Kambala sport’, owing to his record set by his stellar performance.
He later served as the general secretary of the District Kambala Committee from 2011 to 2013. He added that during his tenure, the Karnataka government dedicated an amount of Rs one crore for the committee's various programmes, but the said amount had never reached them.
“We have been conducting various training and wellness programmes. In 2011, the Kambala Protection operations and training academy was founded. I would relentlessly work towards the vivid activities taking place in the academy. Recognizing the consistent activities in the academy, Karnataka sports committee awarded us and handed over an amount of Rs 5 lac to the academy.
“The central discussion for today, revolves around the false allegations that have been charged against us. It has tarnished our image and defamed us immensely. I have consistently worked towards betterment of the Kambala sport and I dare say I have never compared Srinivasa Gowda with Usain Bolt, that has led to all the chaos. I must know why I have been accused of corruption and as to why Lokesh Shetty has falsely proclaimed us in such humiliating manner. It is completely unacceptable and I condemn all these false statements that have been targeted against me,” he remarked.
Speaking about Srinivasa Gowda he said that as Kambala enthusiast he was a humble and down to earth person, who never aspired for fame or money. He added that his love for the sport had earned indisputable records to his name and win him several accolades.
He shared that the expenses of the Kambala activities were born by the members and they never relied on money form external sources. He said, “To bring in authenticity in the sport, as asked to, we placed electronic timing devices to provide accurate results. We also adapted the Laser beam network system and decidedly worked for the past 9 years towards providing precise outcomes of various events.
“I strongly condemn all these denunciations and the baseless accusation by Lokesh Shetty arises from the fact that he wishes to tarnish my reputation on basis on false proclamations to my ability and calibre,” he said.
