Bengaluru, July 24: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai paid handsome tributes to leading educationist and social reformer Dayanand R Sagar, who established several top quality educational and health institutions serving thousands of people in the State.
Participating in the birth centenary celebrations of freedom fighter Dayanand Sagar, who believed in the noble ideal of education for all, he said the multitude of schools, colleges in different campuses and a medical college besides a private university under the banner of Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peeta Trust serve to remember the legendary leader.
``When a person’s achievements spur others to emulate his example, it is sign of his phenomenal success. Dayanand Sagar was an inspiration to several persons, the Chief Minister said.
The institutions set up by Dayanand Sagar are a standing testimony to his foresight and visionary leadership, Bommai said and felt all Kannadigas must benefit from the institutions.’
Former chief minister and BJP leader SM Krishna and ministers R Ashok, Dr C N Ashwath Narayan and Dr K Sudhakar participated in the function.
Earlier, the chief minister greeted BJP leader and MLA S R Vishwanath on his birthday.
