Mangaluru: One need not join army to serve nation – Dr P L Dharma

Mangaluru, Jul 26: “Graduation Day is important in order to achieve in life. When we go out from the college after getting degree, we should not repeat the mistakes. The responsibility of this nation and state is on your shoulders. This occasion is important in order to remember that,” said Dr P L Dharma, registrar evaluation of Mangalore University.

Prof Dharma was speaking at the Graduation Day celebration of Canara College for the academic year 2020-21.

Dharma further said, “Canara College teaches not only the work of nation building but topics that are foundation to the rational, Indian culture and humane relations. There is no need to join army to serve the nation. Respecting nation, society and community and creating good citizens is also service to the country.”

The programme was presided over by M Ranganatha Bhat, honorary secretary of Canara High School association. He said that difficulties will soften a person. In the meantime, outgoing students’ responsibilities have increased. Be citizens with values.

Convener of the college M Jagannath Kamath said that students are the highest citizens of this country regardless of the professional position they will take. This programme is for them to remember the institute for life.

Office bearers of Canara high school association Basti Purushotam Shenoy, C A M Vaman Kamath, Shivananda Shenoy, Vasudeva Kamath, chiefs of Canara group of organizations, HODs of all departments of college were present.

Principal of the college Dr Premalatha V welcomed the gathering. The programme was compered by Hardik Chouhan. Dejamma rendered vote of thanks.
