Martyrs remembered on Kargil Vijay Diwas in Shimla


Shimla, Jul 26 (IANS): A special programme was organised on Tuesday to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas in Shimla, where Himachal Pradesh's Urban Development Minister, Suresh Bhardwaj honoured the families of the heroes and martyrs who won the Kargil war.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated across the country on this day. 23 years ago on July 26, 1999, the brave soldiers of India gave a befitting reply to Pakistan and drove out the Pakistani intruders.

On this occasion, Suresh Bhardwaj said, "Every year on this special day, the brave sons of the country are remembered. The brave soldiers of India had defeated the infiltrators of Pakistan on this day."

He said that in 1999, the Kargil warriors had demonstrated that its soldiers can do anything to protect 'Mother India'.

"The country's army is getting stronger and stronger. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is playing an important role in strengthening the army," Suresh Bhardwaj said.
