Udupi: DC bans heavy vehicles on Agumbe Ghat till August 31 due to road repair works

Udupi, July 29: Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M has extended till August 31 the existing ban on traffic of heavy vehicles on Agumbe Ghat. As there was a landslide at eleventh curve on NH 169A Agumbe Ghat the movement of heavy vehicles was banned earlier till July 30, 2022.

The deputy commissioner in his notification dated July 29 stated that there are public requests and demand for bus services on the road and the reconstruction and repairs of the guard wall that has collapsed will take another two weeks.

“The assistant executive engineer, national highways sub division, Shringeri has requested in his report to ban heavy vehicles except transport buses on the stretch till August 31.”

Therefore, the deputy commissioner has permitted only buses and light vehicles on Agumbe Ghat road till August 31.

Other heavy vehicles are directed to ply by alternative route during the period of the ban.
