Mangaluru: Career guidance programme held at St Agnes PU College

Mangaluru, Jul 30: St Agnes PU College organized career counselling programme in the auditorium for the science and commerce students on two different occasions on July 23 and 30 respectively.

The objective of the programme was to enable students to understand the various career avenues open to them.

The resource persons emphasized that choosing the right career is a significant and pivotal decision in ones life. They pointed out how there is no dearth of opportunities and options be it in the field of Science or Commerce. The resource person for the science students Pundarikaksha Kodancha, principal, SVH PU College spoke on the emerging careers of the future and gave glimpses of fields apart from medicine and engineering. He also spoke about the finer values of life and how to focus on one’s goal.

Prashanth Alison, HOD, department of Commerce, MAPS College was the resource person for the commerce students. He spoke about how onerous the task of choosing the right career can be. He gave tips to the students on how they can hone into their interests and choose a career that they can be passionate about. He gave insights on the conventional career options, while also illuminating the various offbeat careers. The resource persons gave them practical tips and suggestions on how to choose an appropriate career that aligns with their aptitudes, skills and passion.

Overall, the programme was inspiring and enriched the awareness and knowledge of the students.

Ramya, department of Mathematics was the emcee, Namitha Shetty, department of Chemistry welcomed the gathering and Ramya Acharya, department of Chemistry rendered the vote of thanks for the session aimed at the science students.

Preema Pereira compered the session for Commerce students, Anitha Shenoy welcomed the resource person and the audience, while Avitha delivered the vote of thanks.

The principal, Sr Norine DSouza, vice principal, Sr Janet Sequeira and the faculty were present.
