Puttur, Jul 31: “If the money which you have given should get any value then the killers of my husband should be punished. If this money has any value then nowhere any activist, including in Sullia should meet this fate. As you are from Sullia I am saying this with you,” Nutana, wife of slain BJP leader Praveen Kumar Nettaru to told former CM D V Sadananda Gowda.
D V Sadananda Gowda had visited the house of Praveen on Saturday. As he entered inside, Praveen’s wife Nutana asked him about the progress in the murder case. Nutana said, “We (BJP) are there in Centre as well as in state. You are saying you are putting efforts. But they go on killing. We lose our people. This series of killings should stop here.”
Replying to Nutana’s plea, DVS said, “I have spoken to the SP. The case has been handed over to the NIA. Monday, I will meet the home minister also.”
Nutana said, “It has been two days since the CM came to visit us. Culprits are still not arrested. What does this mean?”
DVS tried to defend saying that similar incidents have taken place when he was CM. Nutana retorted, “If you had taken proper action during your tenure this incident would not have happened.”
Nutana got furious when DVS said that he came to know through ADGP Alok Kumar that Praveen had threat to his life. She said, “This says how responsible you are. An activist of your village is killed. Is it not your responsibility to take information about the party workers? You should have known all this earlier itself.”
DVS politely answered Nutana and said that only police have to inform him about the threat. But Nutana said, “They will not tell without asking. You should have known. As a leader it is your duty.”
Nutana said that DVS must agree that the BJP government is responsible for the killing of her husband. DVS said that he understands that there are shortcomings from their end. He also said that he had taken stringent action when he was the CM.
DVS and Ashok Kumar Rai handed over an amount of Rs 1 lac each to Nutana, wife of Praveen as compensation.
