Beltangady: Rs 3.28 lac worth gold ornaments stolen from temple

Beltangady, Jul 31: Gold ornaments of deity were stolen after breaking open the lock of sanctum sanctorum of Sri Durgaparameshwari temple of Mundoor village near here on the night of July 29.

The theft occurred between 9.30 PM of July 29 and 6.30 AM of July 30. 

The thieves took away a golden Drishti of goddess weighing 24 grams, a silver Kariyamani chain with golden thali, one silver covering of idol and one conch. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to be Rs 3.28 lac.

A case in this connection is filed at Beltangady police station based on a complaint filed by Raghavendra Bhat of temple administration committee.

    Why does temple understand that Gods dont need golden ornaments ?Instead put silver fake gold ornaments on her .Noone will start to doubt .Was any cctv camera there to see who was so early or late to watch it and take away .I am sure some insider work?
