Kundapur, Aug 1: Rural language expert M Jayaram Shetty said that no one should have inferior complex about rural languages. It is not possible to measure their greatness.
Jayaram spoke in the Asadi Vadr programme that was organized on Sunday, July 31 at the Handattu-Danagundu Geleyara Balaga auditorium under the aegis of Panchavarna Yuvaka Mandala Kota.
Shetty further said, “Kundagannada is getting worldwide recognition. It is a way of life. Elders should teach the same to the younger generation. Accordingly, AShada month is special. The snacks that were prepared in this month were complimentary to health.”
Shanta Srinivas Poojary, wife of minister Srinivas Poojary inaugurated the function. The programme was presided over by Kalavathi Ashok, president of Mahila Mandala.
Divyalaxmi Prashant Kundar flagged off the rural food eating competition. Social worker Srikant Shenoy flagged off rural sports competition. Rural Multi-faceted talent Vanita Upadya Chithrapady was felicitated.
Jahnavi Herle, president of Vipra Mahila balaga, Saligrama, Sushila Somshekhar, president Mahila Mandala Kota, Amrita Jogi, president of Panchavarna Yuvaka Mandala, Suresh Ganiga Shevadi, founder president, Kusuma Devadiga, honorary president of Mahila Mandala were present.
Sujatha Tingalaya welcomed the gathering, convener Pushpa Handattu did the introductory speech. Sujatha Bayari compered the programme. Chethana Hadikere rendered the vote of thanks.
Rural sports like Hidikaddiyata, Gudna, weaving Hidkaddi were the attraction. Rural foods like Pathrodi, Urgan Chatley, Athras, Akki Undi, Horli chutney, goddit, avalakki undi, gooliyappa, avade, jackfruit dani besad, kobbari mitayi satiated the taste buds of the crowd.
