Sullia: Motorists stranded for 3 hours on Mangaluru-Mysuru road due to heavy rain

Sullia, Aug 3: Due to heavy rain, Payaswini river is swelling here, which has resulted in the closure of the Mysuru-Mangaluru highway.

Traffic movements came to halt after water-logging was reported on the national highway at Peraje and Arambooru in Sullia taluk.

The traffic movements were completely closed at 3 am.

A Rajahamsa bus got stuck in the water at Beliyooru, Peraje. There were nine passengers in the bus. Later, the Fire and Emergency Service officials arrived at the spot and shifted the passengers to a safer place using a boat.

When the water level came down at around 6 am, buses, trucks and other vehicles resumed their journey.

There is inconvenience traffic movement as water is flowing heavily at Arambooru on the national highway. A house near the river was completely inundated.

The distance between Aramboor to Sullia is about five kilometres.
