Sana'a, April 10 (IANS) Hundreds of protesters were wounded in police action in Yemen's capital while demanding an immediate end to President Ali Abdullah Saleh rule, Xinhua reported Sunday.
They were wounded when police used live rounds and tear gas to quell them from advancing towards presidential palace in Sana'a Saturday night, said doctors and witnesses.
Over 120 people have been killed and about 5,000 injured since the protests inspired by uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt broke out in Yemen early February.
President Saleh, who has ruled since 1978, announced a state of emergency in Yemen March 18.
