Udupi: 75th Independence Day celebrated at SMVITM

Udupi, Aug 16: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, celebrated the 75th Independence Day on August 15 with great pride and enthusiasm.

K Shripathi Kalkur, former sergeant, Indian Air Force, hoisted the flag, followed by the national anthem and Vande Matharam, sung by the NCC cadets and students of the college with great pride and patriotism.

 

In his Independence day address, he paid tribute to the heroes and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation, to bring us the freedom, peace and joy. He said that it is a day of immense pride and joy for all Indians as the country is celebrating its 75 years of Independence.

He also emphasized that youth of the country can make a name at the world level and can be the makers of this country.

Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal, addressed the gathering and conveyed his wishes to all the faculty, staff and students. Prizes were distributed to the students in the programme. Dean, HODs of various departments, faculty, staff, students and NCC cadets were present during the occasion.

Ankitha Bhat, department of Electronics and Communication Engineering proposed the vote of thanks and compered the programme.
