Mangaluru: Sacred Heart Madanthyar wins Aquamater Cup football tournament

Mangaluru, Aug 19: Milagres College hosted Aquamater Cup 2022, a two day football tournament sponsored by John Errol Samuel, proprietor of Aquamtor Laboratory on August 17-18, at Nehru Maidan. 

The tournament was inaugurated by Roger Antony Samuel, deputy MD of Aquamater Water Solutions. Addressing the gathering, Roger said, It is a privilege to be part of the inaugural function of this football tournament. The tournament is a wonderful initiative for the youngsters. He wished the best for the tournament and to all the players.

 

Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, correspondent Milagres Educational Institutions gave the presidential remarks. Dr Gerald Santhosh D’Souza, director, physical education, Mangalore University, encouraged the players with his words of wisdom and spirit of sportsmanship.

D M Aslam, president, DK Football Association, Fr Uday Fernandes, principal, Milagres Central School, Melwin Vas, principal, Milagres PU College, Sandeep S Rao, physical director, Milagres College, Yashwanth, sports secretary were present on the dais.

Principal Fr Michael Santhumayor, welcomed the gathering. Faculty Eva Manorama compeered the programme and Denzil Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.

Total 13 colleges participated in the tournament. Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar were the champions with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and runners up were St Philomena College, Puttur with a cash prize of Rs 15,000.

Best defender, Best Goal Scorer and Best Goal Keeper were awarded with cash prize of Rs 5,000 each.
