Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrated at Udupi Math

Udupi, Aug 19: Sri Krishna Janmastami celebrations were held at the Sri Rajangana of the Sri Krishna Math here on Friday, August 19.

Sri Krishna Jayanthi 2022 celebrations were held under the joint auspices of the district administration, zilla panchayat Udupi, Kannada and Culture department, Mysuru division in cooperation with Paryaya Sri Krishnapura Math.

MLA K Raghupati Bhat inaugurated the programme.

In his address he alluded to the message that Bhagavad Gita had conveyed as a way of life and the administrative system as preached by Lord Sri Krishna thousands of years ago and said they were applicable for people all over the world covering all fields even to this day.

“Even foreigners are getting attracted towards the principles of Lord Sri Krishna and are coming here to study about India from far off places. The message of Bhagavad Gita is an inspiration for many people to achieve success. Madhwacharya installed Sri Krishna idol in Udupi some 800 years ago and spread the Madhwa philosophy to the whole world,” he said..

Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao also spoke on the occasion.

Akshaya Gokhale, lecturer, Dr NSAM PU College Nitte delivered a special talk. In her address she said that, “for students the essence of religion lies in pursuing and focus on education to achieve success.”.

The celebrations were marked by cultural programmes and a dance competition which was held  by professional troupes.

A fancy dress competition held for different age groups was also an attraction. 

Veena, ADC, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, president, Coastal Development Authority,  Mangaluru, Uday Kumar Shetty, president, The Mysuru Electrical Industries Limited, Bengaluru, Sumithra Nayak, president, City Municipality Council, Udupi,  Manohar S Kalmady, president,  Udupi Urban Development authority, Balakrishna Shetty, president, Standing committee, Dayanand B R, president, Udupi district Yadava Golla Samaja sangha, Prasanna H, CEO, Zilla Panchayat Udupi and Akshay Hackay Machindra, district Superintendent of Police Udupi were present.

Poornima of Kannada and Culture department welcomed the gathering.

Roshan Shetty, assistant director, Sports and Youth empowerment, Udupi compered the programme.
