Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 19:Dakshina Kannada on Friday, August 19, reported 20 new coronavirus cases while seven cases were registered in Udupi.
The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,499 out of which 68 are currently active. As many as 18 patients were discharged on August 19.
One death was reported on August 19. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,858.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.
Positivity rate for the day stood at 2.04% percent.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
Seven coronavirus cases were reported on August 19. The total active Covid cases are 37.
A total of 10,90,299 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,84,003 have received both doses and 2,24,178 people have received booster doses.
Udupi reported five cases, while Kundapur added two and Karkala registered zero cases.
