Mangaluru: NHAI approves Surathkal toll gate merger with Hejmady, Talapady?

Mangaluru, Aug 20: It is known through sources that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is mulling to merge Surathkal NITK tollgate with Hejmady and Talapady toll gates.

If Surathkal toll gate is merged only with Hejmady toll gate, then vehicle owners and drivers will have to pay double the price for toll, which will again lead to protests. So it is said that scheme is being formed to share the toll charges by two toll gates of Hejmady and Talapady.

From some years, public were urging to close the Surathkal toll gate. Recently union minister Gadkari had also assured to withdraw all tollgates which are within distance of 60 km from each other.

    Wish the INC or SDPI or JDS or other opposition strongly protested and ensured this issue is fully resolved instead of wasting time on who threw the egg politics or 'freedom fighters' flex issue. A city with less than 1/3rd facilities like Bangalore paying toll at 3 gates is absolutely BS.

    Install toll gates make money, same time take responsibility for the road accidents happening due to bad roads. Proclaim that toll gate contractors will take responsibility and compensate the road accident victims.

    Wow..... great idea.... they are not cancelling the toll gate but merging with other two toll gates without losing any revenue. Now both toll gates at Hejamadyand Talapady will have increased toll charge, so loosers are the road users. Jai ho Lala.... truely Baniyas, Marwadi business model.....edhar nahin tho udhar....rokhda apna Bhai.

    The distance between Hejmadi Toll Plaza to Talpadi Toll Plaza is 43 Kms. Due to. Surtakal Toll collection NHAI was looting . Now they are worried that huge amount is lost. Hejmadi toll plaza to Bramarskottlu Toll Plaza the distance is 45 Kms. So Talpadi Toll Plaza and Bramarakootlu Toll plaza has to be shifted further 15 Kms.

    Wht about the Brhmarakutlu ( B CRoad ) toll gate. The collection is useless and unscientific. Traveeling from Mangalroe to B C Road is like ride on a roller coaster. These politicians knows only to make money and create enimocity between the people and various religion. Traffic free road when they come. Loot is the priority not the service.

    It is a merger, no body will loose profit. They will increase the toll prices by sharing the toll charges to two toll gates of Hejmady and Talapady. Yo have to pay increased toll charges at hejamdy and talapady toll.

    going by th e news...the amount of suratkal will made half and added to the toll charges of talapady and hejmady...so finally story is same..only people who live within vicinity of suratkal will benefit...
