Aug 20: Dakshina Kannada reports 17 Covid cases, 13 infections in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 20: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, August 20, reported 17 new coronavirus cases while 13 cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,516 out of which 72 are currently active. As many as 13 patients were discharged on August 20.

No deaths were reported on August 20. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,859.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 1.59% percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi:

13 coronavirus cases were reported on August 20. The total active Covid cases are 43.

A total of 10,90,309 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,84,017 have received both doses and 2,26,208 people have received booster doses.

Udupi reported six cases, while Kundapur added five and Karkala registered two cases.
