Bantwal, Aug 21: A girl, who had taken shelter in her relative’s house with her young brother, after the death of their grandmother, was sexually harassed by the person supposed to provide her foster care.
The incident has come to light quite late from Allipade in the taluk. Both the victim and her younger brother have been admitted to care centres on August 19.
It is alleged that the male relative of the victim girl used to sexually harass her every day. But she could not inform this matter to anyone as she had some issues in her health. Later, when the officials inquired, the matter came to light.
The Sarapady Gram Panchayat Security Committee and Bantwal Child Development Project office personnel, who came to know of the matter immediately swung into action and saved both the victim and her brother.
The victim girl is admitted to Swadhara Centre at Jappinamogaru and her brother is admitted to Bondel Boys Care Centre by supervisor Shobha under the guidance of Bantwal CDPO Gayathri Bai H.
