George Fernandes is one of my favorite Politician. He was courageous and had the guts to take on the might of Mrs Indira Gandhi when she was at her pinnacle. Outright ,honest ..would call a spade a spade. Wouldn't even spare wrong doers within his own community .HE is the Architect of Konkan Railway and the Naval base at karwar. We should name some circles and roads in Mangalore / Udupi after him. A Big Salute to this man

" He was a 'Tiger' and has been a nightmare for CONgees." And Modiji is 10 times a night mare for all opposition party members. Using IT, ED, CBI and using law less operations to break coalition rule in the states by horse trading MLA's and promissing CM posts. Now they are playing Operation Chankya in New Delhi. (Double cross character)

All of a sudden many books on former defence minister and a terrific trade union leader George Fernandes are coming out. Recently read a book on george 'Bandh Samrat- tales of eternal rebel' authored by Chris Emmanuel Dsouza, a detailed and a well written book with simplistic lines. A must read for all karavali kannadigas. I was surprised to know that George conducted his first strike in mangalore with Amembala Balappa against CPC buses while he was a teenager! His later went to Bombay the city of dreams..and his early struggles and his rise bring tears to our eyes. Later during emergency he went underground and the police tortured his brother Lawrence sadistically. His hate towards indira and congress party increased. The author mentions that indira wanted to finish George Fernandes during emergency.Dsouza's book is like a thriller and felt proud reading george saabs accomplishments being a mangalorean. There will be a never a leader like George, he was unique.

Person who undergrounded during Indira's emergency period who revolted against government. Without any reason no one can do it. Mr. Fernandes even worked as conductor in Mumbai's BEST and on that time driver is none other person named John from Nidodi.
