Mumbai, April 14 (IANS) Indian equities markets were closed Thursday on account of constitution maker Babasaheb Ambedkar's birth anniversary, celebrated as Ambedkar Jayanti.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) closed Wednesday with a gain of 434.32 points or 2.25 percent at 19,696.86 points.
Broader markets too had closed in the green, with the BSE midcap index moving up 1.4 percent and the BSE small cap index ending 1.3 percent higher.
At the National Stock Exchange, the 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty closed 2.17 percent or 125.80 points higher at 5,911.50.
