Adamant on hijab: 145 Muslim girl students take TCs from govt colleges in Mangaluru, Udupi

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru/Udupi (MS)

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 23: The state high court has pronounced its verdict on the hijab row that rocked the state few months ago. Some students have approached The Supreme Court. According to the present verdict of high court, religious clothing cannot be worn in classroom of educational institutions. Classes are held in accordance with the high court verdict. However, there are signs that the hijab row might cause disturbances again. In coastal districts Hijab war has begun. Many students have taken transfer certificates (TC) from government colleges as they are not allowed to wear Hijab in class rooms.

In twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi 16% of the students have taken their TCs. They have taken TC under RTI. Kattar Muslim Hijab girl students, who are distraught after the high court verdict have taken TCs from the government institutions and have approached private institutions to continue their education. Out of 900 Muslim girls students, 145 (16%) have taken TCs. Out of the 145 students who have taken TCs, 34% were studying in government colleges while 16% were enrolled in aided colleges.

Ghausiya, student of university college Mangaluru said that the education minister B C Nagesh is the reason for the Muslim girl students to take the TCs.

The students who took TCs accused minister B C Nagesh and said, “As we are not allowed to wear Hijab, we have taken TCs from the college. Minister Nagesh did not allow us to get education as per our constitution. He made a small piece of cloth a big issue.”

The government will suffer because of the stand taken by the Muslim girl students. The government colleges will get closed as more than 30% Muslim girl students have left government colleges over the hijab issue. The students say that this will be a burning issue for the whole state.

Well, CFI's (which sprouted only for this purpose and has since gone to cold storage) agenda and purpose has been served. Those who study (predominantly female students as is the trend regardless of religious affiliation) and start reasoning will challenge their daylight chauvinism. Better render them where they belong to. Behind the 4 walls of their house. Dear Ladies, please do not blame minister BC Nagesh. Your right for education is not at whims and fancies of the Education minister, but provided by the constitution of India. Decision to take TCs is voluntary and you only have yourself to blame (and reason for wild CFI celebration) for being brazen to challenge the writ of the court and in turn hurt yourselves.

Readers, when the honorable courts have validated that every student must duly follow the rules of their institutions... these girls have blindly fallen prey to bigots, whose allegiance is towards their religion and not to the sacrosanct laws of our nation...

From dust we came and to dust we will all go. Between dust the period is called life and that's what we all have messed up as all have forgotten to live life above religion and politics.

No matter where ever you study at the time of public examination, they will have to move to designated examination centers and will have to remove their hijab . They cannot decide which college they will write their exams .

All the puja and things are at home.. no one comes out in lungi and robes to write exam. We know the pass % anyway. So equality in writing exam is natural. We can't have someone being checked and someone else having their entire uniform covered during a prescribed govt rule

Why did hindus got angry when a school told their students to remove rakhi before entering class??? Rakhi is not a part of uniform, nor bindi nor kumkum on forehead

Kumkum/Rakhi/Karimani/Rings/Gold doesn't hide any part of your body. Even wearing caps inside class/during exams not allowed because it helps in cheating. Just think in wider sense just dont think according to religion. School has a uniform and it must be followed. Like how a citizen of country follows the lands rule something similar goes into following rules of Indian education system. If people find it difficult TC is the only way.

How someone expect a disbeliever understand the concept of Islam..It's better take TC and join the institution where hijab is allowed...As believing men and women must know that ALMIGHTY never question the idolaters about their practices because its straight path to jahannam..But believers are answerable about hijab even thier any kind of degree is secondary

Heading to Al-Kabab institutions freeing up seats for deserving economically weaker sections. Equality in democracy starts with dressing & not being able to identify once religion by ones attire but some want to be seperate in everything & hold seperate identity.

Division in the society widens when one religious groups want to display their outfit and stand separate in an educational institution. Why can't we all dress as per the weather and customs of this land?

Nothing political after the court verdict. The ruling party has nothing to gain when the opposition is silent on the subject. Now there is more religion than politics, which can be disastrous in the long run.
