Bengaluru, Aug 23: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has asserted that there is no question of filing a writ petition challenging the recent order the High Court scrapping the anti-corruption bureau.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru after participating in the Power Quality Factory programme of Hitachi Energy India in Bengaluru on Tuesday, he said a private individual has filed a writ petition against the High Court order for abolition of the ACB.

“But the State Government’s position is very clear. We have nothing to do with the writ petition filed by the private individual. Our party had promised abolition of ACB in its election manifesto,” he said pointing out that the government was examining how to go about the process of the abolition of ACB.

Bommai said the State Cabinet has also decided against filing a writ petition challenging the High Court. “We will clarify our position before the court if required,’’ he declared.

The chief minister mentioned that the Congress opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah was repeatedly creating needless controversies through his statements.

Bommai said the former Congress chief minister had claimed that he was subjected to not just eggs attack but also stone pelting. However, the government has ordered a probe into the incident out of respect for the Opposition leader’s status, he said.

Answering questions on the recent statement by a cabinet minister on making Devanahalli as a district headquarters, he promised to discuss with the minister and clarify the position.

The frequently postponed Janotsava programme will be held on September 8 at Doddaballapur, he said claiming that it will become a dark day for some.

The Chief Minister lauded the contribution and service of Hitachi Company for the industrial development, research and development in the State and said it will help in employment generation.

He said Karnataka was a leader in the renewable energy sector and sought the active cooperation of industrial giants like Hitachi in the State’s efforts.
