2 street dogs poisoned, 8 go missing: Police probe Bengaluru activist's complaint

Bengaluru, Aug 26 (IANS): The Karnataka Police have taken up the investigation of poisoning of two street dogs and a missing case of eight in Devanahalli Airport police station limits of Bengaluru, police said on Friday.

The investigations have been taken up following the FIR lodged by 51-year-old Anuja Raman Chouhan, an animal lover. The police stated that Anuja fed a pack of 10 dogs every day for 18 months near Hollywood township.

The dogs came to the spot to have food every morning and developed a special bond with Anuja. However, Anuja did not find any of the dogs at the time of feeding on August 12.

Anuja thought that heavy rainfall might have prevented the dogs from coming to the usual spot. However, later she found the dead bodies of two street dogs near Sadahalli Gate.

The complainant suspects that the two dogs have been poisoned and other dogs would have also met the same fate. The police have lodged a case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and taken up the investigation.

The dead bodies of street dogs recovered in decomposed state have been sent for the post-mortem. The police said once they get reports, the exact cause of death will be ascertained. Further investigation is on.

Stret dogs multiply without control. Either corporation or anymal lovers and activists do some arrangements to sterilize the male dogs and tag them to ensure that particular dog is sterlized. Also, like gau shalas, let the activists arrange to buld dogs protection and care sheds to avoid street dogs attack on humans

Why you complaining to police. Last week because these dogs one kid hurt badly. If u have that much of love for dogs more than human keep all the dogs inside your house. Don't make drama feeding them on public streets. Otherwise u can Shift to forest so u can feed there all type of wild animals.

It’s city administration’s duty and responsibility to manage and control stray dogs and any reckless animals roaming around. Why investigate people who have eliminated these nuisance stray dogs who have done the city administration’ s duty. Investigate this incompetent govt and give account of the tax money expenditure. This govt has completely failed in its duties and people have to put up with their nuisance and taken for task. Govt has utterly failed in roads, garbage, stray animals, traffic, law and order, inflation etc etc. Why blame affected and devastated people here.

Street dogs are indeed a nuisance. Can't predict when they will become violent and attack kids, old people and 2 wheeler riders. They should be sterilized, vaccinated against rabiesand kept at kennels. Interested dog lovers can adopt.
