The complaint is lodged by the assistant executive engineer of city municipality Yashwant N Prabhu. In his complaint, Prabhu says, “I have been working as an executive with the city municipality for the past eight months. On the orders of the municipality commissioner, I went to Kinnimulky to demolish the unauthorised shed that was built at Kinnimulky on government land, along with a JCB machine and other personnel.

“When we were about to demolish the shed, the auto rickshaw drivers and other members of the public obstructed our work. We got the same demolished with the help of the police. As we were transporting the demolished shed parts in a vehicle, around 15 to 20 people rounded up our vehicle, abused and threatened us with life.”

Malpe police are investigating further.

The authority who abruptly gave the permission to demolish this shed should have issued a prior show cause notice to the concerned people, IMHO?

Technically the complaint is null and void ab initio as public gheraoed them when returning after discharging their duty as per their own admission as objection to any action is not obstruction as people have every right to question the authorities and their representatives as from their tax money they get paid and is used in demolition too. It clearly shows high handedness from the authorities as it won't get them credit or cut in the work. Time for people to send these arrogant leaders back home in next election.
