Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (MS)

Beltangady, Aug 28: Minister for housing and fundamental infrastructure development V Somanna said that he would discuss with the chief minister and other departments to identify 100 acres of land to construct a mini airport for the convenience of pilgrims visiting Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala as per a demand placed by Dr D Veerendra Heggade and MLA Harish Poonja.

Somanna spoke after distributing the work orders for 1500 beneficiaries of Basava Vasathi and Ambedkar Vasanthi schemes.
With thoughts of the future, ATR and airport, in which 10 to 12 seater flights can land, along with four helipads is planned for Dharmasthala. The DPR will be made soon and sent to cabinet for approval.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Poonja said, “By sanctioning 1500 houses, minister Somanna has realized the dreams of good house and good family for every beneficiary. Another 5000 houses are required for the taluk and I have appealed for the same with the minister.”

Minister Somanna said that a grant of Rs 10 crore more would be given to develop the fundamental infrastructure of the taluk. He also gave orders for 3160 more houses. In addition, the minister also asked the officials concerned to identify the beneficiaries in all 48 panchayats and furnish a report.

Wasteful expenditure only for a few privileged .. When 1000 ‘s or lakhs come to. Dharmasthala .. who with their Meagre earnings manage to get salvation .. or prayers answered .. very many based it on divine faith .. They Manage in buses .. cars .. train upto a point ...etc Only a small aircraft Can land And small airport can handle at best 200 passengers s day ....then there are connectivity issues etc .. ..NOW ..who are Really well to do : super rich ...can use helicopter services .. Helipads are not expensive .... Airports have many security formalities .. check in etc etc ..and generally far away from main point . Of interest .. here it is Temple etc ...

A hundred acres are NOT sufficient, allocate at least a thousand (1000) acres s land for the airport. DO NOT RESTRICT the future growth now itself...

One more misplaced priorities..... recipe for more flooding and land slides at the foot hills of sensitive Western ghats. Instead of airport improve the existing roads so that travel becomes easy and safe.
